Sought out ones!

And they shall be called the Holy people, the Redeemed of the Lord and you will be called “Sought Out”, A city not forsaken! – Isaiah 62:12
Going through this life can leave us feeling deserted, alone and forgotten even by those who are close to us. Maybe you are one who literally was left behind, deserted and forgotten by those you trusted. I often feel left out, despised and marginalized in the popular culture of our day. More and more I hear about people with a biblical world view being threatened and assaulted because they simply disagree with it. It’s apparent that biblical beliefs are not welcome in this new world paradigm. The bedrocks of society like traditional marriage (biological man united with a biological woman) and sexual identity (phsycologists now say there are 72 gender identities) are being “transitioned” into something confusing , less honorable, less godly and very perverted.
Because of this societal moral decline, things are changing. Even when I look around at the once vibrant cities that I used to love to visit are now reduced to cities that have fallen into serious trouble with crime, lawlessness and destruction. Leaders have checked out, money has gone everywhere else but where its needed and law and order is ineffective. So it was for the people in Isaiah the Prophets day. He knew first hand the effects of rebellion and deception, he faithfully warned the people of the consequences of turning their backs on God and worshipping other gods.
He warned Gods people about assimilating into the culture around them. Rebelling by leaving their covenant relationship with God to go after other gods meant there would be serious consequences. Much like an unfaithful spouce. Despite the warnings, Isaiahs message was rejected and He was maligned by the very people that he dedicated his life to serve. As a result, the people of God were overthrown and captured by the Assyrian/Babylonian empire and remained their prisoners for many decades. It was in this state of bondage and misery that many turned their hearts back to God even though some may have felt abandoned and forgotten by Him. Overwhelmed by their circumstances, some may even have felt shame and unworthiness to return to God or receive forgiveness because of their own actions against Him. Until God spoke to Isaiah and offered them hope.
He spoke this comfort to them:
“And they shall be called a Holy People, Redeemed of the Lord”
His plan was to give them back their identity.
He called them Holy, an implication of the removal of impurity and perversion and restored them with the words “Redeemed of the Lord. Thats amazing and wonderful because He meets us where we are and gives us amazing grace and forgivness.
Because none of us can remove our sin guilt
by “fixing” ourselves.
The religious culture in Assyria/Babylonia was very much like today. The people mainly worshiped the goddess Ishtar. Ishtar was the goddess of war, sexual love, and weather. She was known to change gender roles of men. Those who would become temple priests would assume non-binary gender roles, dress in women’s clothing and engaged in homosexual prostitution. She was the patroness of prostitutes and the alehouses of the day.
Marduk was another revered deity during Isaiah’s day that was commonly worshipped by people sacrificing their children to it. In one word, I can describe the why of how society degrades into this wicked behavior.
Sin. Sinful behavior, actions and thoughts.
God has given all mankind a moral standard to follow. It’s spelled out in the bible in the 10 Commandments. Gods moral standard remains in effect to this day. When we fall short of that standard (and we all do) we experience the effects, moral and societal decay and its consequences. This was the very issue in the prophet Isaiahs day and in ours today.
Many people feel like God has abandoned them or is silent or doesn’t care.
The absolute truth is this. He pursues us out of pure grace and mercy to restore us to himself!
He said:
“you will be called Sought Out“.
Through Jesus, Gods Son, we have redemption from our sin debt because He paid the price with His life on the cross for you and I by becoming the sacrifice for our sin so that we can be set free from the consequences of it and become righteous before God. As if we had never sinned!
God tenderly reassures his people that He would seek them out. He wouldn’t leave them trapped, stuck in bondage, alone, deserted, forgotten.
And thats our hope too!
God seeks us out. He’s searching for you just like a lost sheep of a flock, or a lost item that's irreplaceable and precious.
He’s searching high and low without stopping because he wants to rescue you and bring you back. He wants to restore your God given identity.
You are not forsaken!
Thats the hope I want to share with you today. No matter what you are going through, you are precious to God. He is actively searching for you.
He sent Jesus to set the captives free, to break any chain that binds you and any sin that weighs you down. Through acceptance and trust in what Jesus did on the cross you will be restored and you will be called one of the Holy people who has been Redeemed by the Lord, one of the Sought out Ones! A city not forsaken.
All you need to do is call on His name and He will meet you where you are.
“Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13
It Ain't Nothin' but a Blessing!

Get Ready to Stand and receive your Blessing!
2 Chronicles Chapter 20 gives a history of the Kings of Israel. There were good kings and there were bad kings... Jehoshaphat was a good king. It was during his reign that he had a battle with some distant family members.
If you recall the story of Lot., He escaped Sodom and Gomorrah. With his two daughters. This family had all kinds of problems.
They lived in a very beautiful, but immoral place. It's sad to say, they weren't necessarily salt and light in that community. It appears from the account that they just sort of turned their face and had a “Live and let live” approach. Well, it ended up being literally a hot mess. The town was destroyed by fire. The rest of the story Is a sad and shameful account. His two daughters who fled with Lot escaped to the hill country and cooked up this insane idea and got their father drunk, and they both decided to sleep with their father in order to have children. One only wonders if this came from seeing this perverted behavior modeled to them by the culture they lived in, in Sodom and Gomorrah. What every the case, clearly, they were pretty messed up.
The children that resulted from that incestuous act were the ones who decided to pick a fight with Jehoshaphat. They were a people known for their cruelty and barbaric worship in child sacrifice to the god Molech.
Who reading this article right now, is dealing with family strife? Are your relations picking a fight with you? Is your enemy stirring up trouble in the family? Is your enemy stirring up the actions of your unsaved family members to hurt you or causing division, turmoil, and pain?
Well listen up because this test is going to be your testimony!
2 Chronicles 20:1 It came to pass after this also, That the children of Mo’av or MOAB (which means Seed of my Father), the children of Ammon (which means Inbred), and with them other Meunites [all their cousins], came against Jehoshaphat for battle.”
His people came to him and warned him saying “There comes a great multitude against you and they’re getting closer.” Oh man these crazy people are coming at us. What do we do?
The word tells us that Jehoshaphat set himself to seek the Lord. Have you taken your troubles to God? The next thing we read is that “He proclaimed a FAST throughout all Judah”. Are you putting your flesh under the control of the spirit? Fasting is powerful and breaks bondages, destroys mindsets, changes the atmosphere, and sows good seeds into the spiritual realm. The whole tribe of Judah “gathered themselves together and stood before the Lord with their little ones, their wives, and their children to ask Him for help.”
Humility in the battle will keep you protected. And God said this “Listen you, all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem” Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. The relations thought they were picking a fight with Jehoshaphat but no, they were picking a fight with God. We all know that’s not going to go well. Halleluiah!! Don’t be afraid or dismayed over the problem, the major issues and battles. Because the battle belongs to God! He will fight for YOU!
But that doesn’t mean we go hide and ignore it. No, He says, “Tomorrow go you down against them” … get your armor on, your “love” attitude right and show up! Stand your ground in Christ, Christian! He says “You shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand you still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you. He says it again “fear not, nor be dismayed; go out against them for the Lord will be with you!”
Halleluiah! God be praised!! He is with you in your battle!
Jehoshaphat chose singers to go before the army of Judah. The moment they began to shout and praise, The Lord set an ambush against their enemies, He stirred them up so bad that they turned on each other and took each other out! They were completely defeated.
Right now, that battle that is overwhelming you and stirring up fear in you, God is saying don’t be afraid or dismayed. All you need to do is stand and PRAISE Him in the face of the battle. Open your mouth and PRAISE HIM. Turn on the worship songs that ignite your heart to adore and praise God.
He’s going to fight for you and turn your battle into a blessing, your test into a testimony!
He's not only going to fight your battle and bring you the VICTORY but He’s going to bless you abundantly because of it! You didn’t ask for this battle, no, you didn’t even cause the problem. You did nothing to deserve this fight, but THEY asked for it. AND God is going to give you success and vindicate you in it.
And then the scriptures tell us that after the dust had settled “when Jehoshaphat and the people looked into the multitude, behold, there were dead bodies everywhere. No one escaped! And when the people came to take away the spoil, they found among them in abundance both riches and precious jewels more than they could carry away!
It took 3 days to gather everything up. They assembled themselves in the valley of B’rakhah which means Blessing because at the end of that battle, the place where the enemy came to fight became the BLESSING! That place is where God chose to pronounce to them you are Blessed, you are favored, happy and prosperous therefore the name of that place is called the Valley of Blessing to this day! Amen!
